A call to alternative business and green taxes. Much can be accomplished within existing structures to reduce and eliminate negative impacts of commerce on the environment. All this is worth doing, but this book doesn't convince me that current structures are capable of the degree of reform necessary. Others like Quinn and Athanasiou argue for more fundamental changes in society than Hawken. Nonetheless, Hawken's ideas have more immediate and practical applications, especially for those working within existing power structures.
