Goatwalking

A clerk at P's books in Portland asked me what category this book was in. Difficult to say, I replied, could be nonficition, religion, political movements, or even animal husbandry. He asked a co-worker on the intercom where the books on bestiality were! In Goatwalking, Corbett discusses his experiences as a modern-day nomad leading political asylum refugees through the Sonoran desert and across the U.S.-Mexico border in the 80's. He delivered his charges to various Southwestern churches within the Sanctuary movement. The journies were made possible by Corbett's goats who helped convert the desert shrubbery into milk, providing the extra liquid and food needed by the travelers. Corbett also explores the concept of a covenant community and the role of religion in Nomadic lifestyle. Goatwalking is also mentioned as a possible survivalist technique.
