Building on ideas introduced in Ishmael, Quinn has written a spy novel in which the provocative title of Antichrist is applied to the proponents of Leaver culture. The principles of totalitarian agriculture are expounded and the religion of Animism is put forth as an viable alternative to Taker religions. Tribal societies are set forth as a model for human interaction that has the full endorsement of three million years of evolution, but there are still no recipes for how to get there from here. I doubt that identifying strivings for alternatives to global destruction with the antichrist is wise, but I can't argue with the idea that radical cultural changes are necessary for humanity to survive.
